The present perfect tense is used to describe actions or events that have a connection to the present moment. It often shows that something happened at an unspecified time before now or that a past action has relevance to the present.

 

Form:

Subject + have/has + past participle

I have finished my homework.

She has visited Paris.

 

Uses:

1. Experience:

I have traveled to Japan. (At some point in life)

 

2. Recent actions:

She has just arrived.

 

3. Unfinished time periods:

They have worked here for five years. (and still do)

 

4. Result in the present:

He has lost his keys. (He still doesn’t have them)

 

Examples:

Have you ever tried sushi?

We have seen that movie before.

They haven’t finished their project yet.
